Skydiving!

Today, I wasn't feeling well at all, but somehow I did muster up the energy to take the kiddos indoor skydiving. Call me crazy, and I'll own it! I took the kids to iFly where they both got to skydive! Neither of them were the least bit afraid. I was just glad I didn't have to do it with them for them to take part. Neither Zack nor Sophia have any real fears which is so NOT me! I am quite the opposite, but I did miss out on a lot of fun because of the many fears I had as a kid. I guess, in some ways, I'm experiencing things I missed by letting my kiddos go for the gusto.

Their first time at Universal City Walk...

Eagerly watching the skydiving video ahead as they rushed to iFly.

Their flight instructor escorts them in...

They watch an instructional video...

They get suited up...

Goggles and all...

OMW - that was AWESOME!!!!

Not an ounce of fear! Sophia was so light he had to help her most of the time. It is a pretty intense experience for a 39 pound little girl!

She gives it the thumbs up!!!

Then she goes in for more and even higher!!!

She was so excited, and I was so amazed that she wasn't scared!

No longer skydiving virgins... Sophia thinks she's all that!

A little wind blown after the fact!
Quote: We have seen many women lately that look very much like guys. Each time, Zack has referred to them as he, and I have said you mean she. I explained that if he looks closely he'll notice that he really is a girl...
Today Zack says, "Mom do you think some girls look like boys because God didn't know how to control his powers in the beginning?"
I had to control myself from doubling over laughing!!! Of course, I told him that God knew exactly what He was doing. Fortunately, the conversation turned at that point because do any of us really understand the deeper questions that come out of a discussion such as this???

A Day at the Zoo

Today we went to the Los Angeles Zoo! The kids LOVE LOVE LOVE animals, and we had a blast even though it rained off and on for most of the day!

The first animal we saw was an alligator that had been released into the wild and then recaptured in order to put it in a habitat where it could survive.

Kangaroos are so cool. This one started hopping right after I put the camera away! Little stinker...

My little gorillas! We enjoyed the Gorilla Campo. It has been at the LA Zoo since 2007, and it was well worth our trip to see them! The gorilla is one of Zack's favorite animals. When we first picked him up from his Pelican, he was joking with us about a gorilla being on our heads! He still remembers that.

So are they black with white stripes or white with black stripes??
The kids kept asking when we are going on a safari - a real one in Africa. I so wish I could pack up and take them. Wouldn't that be cool? Zack has an atlas that he reads and studies often. I was pleased that today he knew what continents on which most of the animals live.
My babies are not babies anymore.

Check out teh gorillas!!!!

This was the coolest exhibit ever!!!

This guy was just hanging around right in front of us!

She's crazy about her brother...!

Gorgeous...I love it!

Tigers are so exquisite! This guy was putting on a show for us. He pranced around in front of us several times. What a beauty!

Sophia was trying to see the snow leopard but instead she saw someone very familar!

I let the kids read the map and lead the way for most of the day!

What a huge wingspan!!!

I love poppies!

The first pic I got of the "gorilla daddy"!
We had a great day at the zoo! When we left, the skies were blue once again!

I haven't been blogging lately because life has just been too busy! The kids, however, are doing well. Both are enjoying softball/baseball. Sophia had her opening day last Saturday, but I forgot to take my camera! Next game, I'll have it for sure!
That's all for now! I hope you enjoy the pictures...

Life Keeps Happening

Then

Now (wow, he is growing up!)

The look of a boy who just shot a hoop!

Sophia hanging out with me at Starbucks!

Playing at Brian's house!!! They love to be there!

There's Brian, our little Prince Charming! He cries for a long time after the kiddos leave to go home. Next time we're staying over night! YAY!!!

They are still best buds, but I will admit that they are starting to "bigger" (bicker). And, it drives me nuts!!!! We are working on learning to be diplomatic and respectful to each other when we have differing opinions! For the most part, they get along smashingly well!!!
I interviewed for a job in Long Beach this week. Zack's prayer last night at dinner: "Dear God, Thanks for the munchies and please help mom to make lots of money in Long Beach." Out of the mouths of babes...

Some Good Cookin'

Tonight I asked the kiddos what they wanted for dinner, and I got a unanimous - PASTA! They would eat pasta every night if they could! They LOVE it, and they like it spicy. Tonight I made it with Spicy Italian sausage and green chiles. It was right up their allie, and they gobbled it up so fast.

I'm not sure if I updated you all on Zack's intolerance to dairy! He now takes Lactade pills before just about every meal or snack. Some foods like ice cream had to be eleminated entirely. Poor kid was spending a good part of his days in the bathroom. I'm glad we figured out what was causing the trouble. Good thing he isn't a milk nut! He drinks water, water, water. He doesn't like soda, juice, or punch. He will only drink water which is crazy but cool. Sophia wants her Sprite and begs at times for Diet Coke. I can't with a good conscience let her drink Diet Coke though... Sorry baby girl - you got a mean mama!

Both kiddos got haircuts yesterday. Sophia's bangs are a little short, but they grow so fast! I wanted this cut to last through softball season!

The kids always want dessert after dinner! Tonight they got coconut macroons and fudgecicles! YUMMY!!!
