Update

For those who might check back now and again for an update on Zack and Sophia:

Zack is just about to turn 10 and continues to do very well in school. He especially loves to build things, fish and enjoys being on the computer. There isn't a ton of opportunity to skateboard out here due to the weather so he hasn't been skateboarding much at all. He still claims to want to be a surgeon and is intrigued by things that would gross most people out. He's grown to about 52 inches tall and seems to have hit a spurt in the last few months. His nose surgery was a huge success because it is hard to even remember him having issues breathing. He breathes very clearly. Zack is SUPER helpful. He not only appreciates a clean house, he likes helping clean it. Every family needs a kid like Zack. I can't tell you how much I appreciate his desire to help. Overall, Zack is doing extremely well and is just like any other 10 year old American boy.

Sophia is 8 going on 35 and continues to have a ton of energy and spunk. She has a lots of common sense and has a very quick whit. She and her Maddy go back and forth often with perfectly timed sarcasm. Sophia's still a rule follower and a total Type A. The one exception would be chores. She's not overly motivated to keep a clean house, but she does her fair share with reminders. As to school, she has benefited from academic testing and has grown so much since she started getting extra assistance in the school resource room. Her reading has improved greatly although she still has a long way to go to catch up with her peers. Gina and I are not too worried about her. She'll pick up reading and will be unstoppable because she has a lot of drive and street smarts. Sophia is also a cuddle bug. Once all her energy has run out she looks for her mom or Maddy and cuddles up. She is about 53 inches tall and is all legs! AND, she has already started puberty. Help me!!!! LOL

The rest of us are getting older too, but we are young at heart. God has blessed us beyond measure. We continue to enjoy our church and are very thankful for our jobs, home, and life here in Dallas.

Grandma's Birthday

First Trip to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Zack went to the symphony with his 4th grade class. He was excited about the trip, but I warned him that it may be a little boring and that he should be sure to be quiet and polite regardless. Surprisingly, when he got home he said he loved it and can't wait to go back. Go figure. I am pleased with his taste for more than just the everyday music we listen to each day.

This kid is growing up! He'll be 10 on April 2nd, and this is his last year in elementary school. OUCH! I think I'm the one with the growing pains!
