Kid-Sized Yard Sale

The community where we live had a yard sale last Saturday, and the kids wanted to take part in it.  I helped them gather clothes they had grown out of and toys they were tired of playing with. I was surprised that at the end they had earned $40 and learned many good lessons in the process!

The next day they went to Walmart with their Auntie Julia and Uncle Paul.  Zack bought a new Star Wars Lego set, and Sophia bought a big stuffed elephant and an elephant dvd.  I was pleased that they learned how to earn and wisely spend money.

Lately Zack is very interested in building Lego ships.  The first one I bought him was way too hard for him, and I thought it was a bust.  I was wrong!  He bought this one on his own.  It was the same difficulty level as the one he needed help with only he built this one in a single day without assistance.  I am of the opinion that Legos are educational and great toys!!!  I'm pleased!

Sophia is going through a stuffed animal phase.  Each day she gathers collection of about 50 stuffed animals and plays with them for hours!  This requires her imagination.  I love to listen and watch as she creates different scenarios.

What kinds of toys do/did your kids like?
