First off, I finished the last classes of my certification program and now am a certified Texas Teacher. Well, I'm not a teacher quite yet, but I am highly qualified and ready to be hired thanks to the Texas Teachers Alternative Certification Program. I have a applied t0 every school district within a 30 mile radius. We shall see where the Lord places me.
The other great news is that Zack was accepted to Harmony Science Academy which is a charter school that focuses on math, science and engineering. Zack has worked hard to earn all As during his second grade year, and this has come as a great surprise to him. He is very excited to have been chosen to attend the new school. The school goes through 12th grade so this should be his last school change while we are in Texas.
I can be a little fanatical when it comes to preparing my kids for their futures, but I figure that is one of the main reasons God sent Zack and Sophia our way - so that we can give them opportunities to succeed in life. This new school doesn't have bus service nor is it super close to our home, but it is definitely in his best interest so Gina has agreed to take him to school each morning.
If someone who was accepted to first grade flakes, Sophia will get a spot at Harmony as well which would be very very cool. The school boasts about teaching kids in various ways to ensure they learn. Sophia seems to be a kinesthetic learner which means she needs to move to learn. I think they'd understand that and help her to feel better about school work. She did well this year, but school is definitely not her favorite pastime as it is for Zack.
Some other news is that our family has found a new church home where we are learning and growing. We have been so blessed by a renewed dedication to prayer and spending time as a family talking about and worshipping God. There was a time when we did devotions each night, but we had fallen away from that. It feels so great to be back in tune with our Father.
Speaking of church, Kenny just got home from church camp where he spent a week with hundreds of teens learning about God and having a blast! He went with my mom's church since our church is quite a bit smaller and more of a drive. God is definitely working in his life which is fun to watch. He is proud to have earned honor roll this semester of jr. high and making all stars in his baseball league.
Here are a few pics from some fun times since school got out:

Congratulations Sophia and Zach! Great job...we are still struggling a bit. Reading continues to be somewhat hard for Kristina. She knows the name of the letters and their sounds but blending is still a work in progress. Nonetheless, we are grateful for so many accomplishments over last year and we move on to third grade.
