From One Extreme to Another

When Zack first came home from Russia he was very territorial over his shoes! He did not want to lose his shoes because he was used to going without. He was very very careful to put them away each time. At the orphanage he had a pair of water shoes that were two sizes too big. These were his only shoes...

I was told the story of him losing one of his shoes while at the orphanage and being very disturbed by it which mad me sad for him.

Anyhow, the sadness is no more! First, I must give a disclaimer - I did not buy all of these shoes myself - I bought a good number of them but not all. I am one of those insane people that does like my kids' shoes to match their clothes. I think they need blue, black and brown shoes at all times! But, that is my hang up.

Zack, however, does LOVE shoes, and he takes great care of them. He no longer has to worry about losing one. That fear is no more. He now knows which ones are his Jordans, which are his Lebrons, which are his boots, Addidas, and so on...

You would think that Sophia would have lots of shoes since she is a girl, but not in this house. She likes her pink Crocks, her Hello Kitty Boots and her white Keds. She is set to go and doesn't need more until her feet grow. She could care less about new ones. This is until Heather gets a hold of her!

Numbero Uno! Read it all - love the shoes. I am so happy that Zack doesn't have to worry about this shoes! :-)

And, like Sophia, when I was a kid white Keds were my favorite. I wanted a new pair every time they got a spot of dirt. I even had mean friends who would purposely kick dirt on them because they knew how obsessed I was.

Oh how life changes. Deana, I'm glad that the kids no longer have to worry about any of the things they worried about in the orphanage. They know they are loved, will be clothed, fed and even given shoes. You've done a great job of taking care of them.

Kristina's problem was a bit different than Zach's. Her shoes were too small and she had calluses on the top of all her toes. It made me so sad. Sometimes she forgets that she doesn't have to wear small shoes anymore and tries on her old shoes to just figure out that it is not comfortable. Her foot grew from a size 8 to a size 13 in one year. Taking about Chinese torture. Deana, I am so glad we are able to providing them with all the shoes they need.

Oh, we are so alike in so many ways! :)

Just a couple weeks and Zack can experience his first NBA season. We are big basketball fans around here. Kev is die-hard Lakers fan since we lived our whole lives in SoCal. He has a license plate to prove it.

We also LOVE the Bobcats because they were new here the same time we were.

It is pathetic the way we are both so excited to go shopping for the kids when we get them. I am a born bargain shopper and I pride myself on that. There are a few things I will splurge for though.

Looks like Zack is lovin' life. Sweet little guy.
