Thanks for the info Kim. Keep it coming! Any Texas tips are welcome. I feel like we live our life on one main road - Preston. I am eager to find out what is all around us. I want to know this area as well as I knew CA!!!

Today, it dawned on me that Zack should have a new outfit for his very first day of school. I had no idea where to find the bargains on the cute clothes! At "home," I knew all of the hot savings spots for all of the "cool" clothes. Now, I am lost. I ended up at Nordstrom much to my chagrin. I hate paying full price! I was looking at the clothes thinking of how much I could have saved buying it in Cali! I know there have to be similar hot spots here so any ideas are welcomed!

I have no pics from today. It was a rather dull day. The cable guy came praise Jesus! We now can see what is going on in the world around us! We hung out near home and took only two trips - Kenny's middle school and Nordstroms. Ho Hum!

The chocolate muffins were YUMMY! Strange thing is that now that I am staying home for a while, I actually cook every single meal. It is great! But, I have noticed that the groceries actually get eaten in their entirety!!!

I will keep an eye out for the cowboys at Starbucks! Yum, what a combination!

Allie, when you come out, I'd like you to make me a chocolate chop!!! Sounds good!

Schools in Northeast Texas are AWESOME! The middle school that Kenny will attend is amazing! I am so excited on Gina's behalf to see all the growth in Kenny this year! There are so many opportunities. At his school, there are 1,120 students but no class larger than 25 students! No cell phones or Ipods allowed. They get lockers unlike in many places in CA. There are two gyms and quite a nice football field. And, I couldn't help but think of The Breakfast Club when the principal talked about Saturday detention!!! These Texans take education seriously - middle school starts at 8:10AM and ends at 3:55PM!!! I say AMEN to that! You know what they say about idle hands!

Whatev Heather! I was helping Victoria prepare for the birth of her child! What's more important?!?!!

I am so excited about Kenny's school! Whoot whoot! And to think that I received an email from his counselor BEFORE SCHOOL BEGINS to test him and get his plan ready! Awesome.

No fears D about the "hot deals" - I've known you or a while and you will be an old pro soon enough!

MISSING YOU!

The best place for kids clothes in Texas is Kohl's. The sale prices on name brand clothes are to die for. They are usually located near a Wal Mart in a stand-alone building.

I've missed so much. I knew you were moving but had no clue you were coming to my area. Preston used to be my home away from home, I worked at the Valley View Mall (on 635) for years.
Now I'm just a short drive away (depending on what end of Preston you're on).

My favorite place to shop for kids clothes is the Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall. They have Children's Place along with many others and they're outlet prices (sometimes). It would be at least a 20 minute drive for you though maybe more. Definetly need a map.

Not only do we Texans take school serious but wait till you get to high school football. They're crazy.

I see men in boots and hats at church often and sometimes at the mall. The fair is coming in October. That would be something fun to take the kids to. They can see Big Tex. Schools actually have I think 2 days off for fair days in October! Which I find bizarre.

There's a HUGE Kohls on Preston it's north. It's 2 stories. And yes they have great deals.
There's also Sam Moon's which is a discount place and there's one up in that area as well. They have all the custom jewlery for cheap but it looks good.

Ah, new school clothes! Too fun. You are an expert shopper - I'm sure you'll be all set very shortly!

You are certainly in the middle of the "it" place of the metroplex, so it should not take you too long to find your way around. I don't shop a lot, but I know you have found Stonebriar Centre, which I am assuming is the Nordstrom's you went to. Also, Sam Moon is a lot of fun for inexpensive "girly" things... very popular in the area. There is a small outlet in Allen, which it not too far from you. I have not been there in a long time, but here is their link: http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=5

My absolute favorite place in the entire D/FW area is Southlake Town Square... http://www.southlaketownsquare.com/ You really are not that far... just a trip down 121... maybe about 25-30 miles for you. I know things seem like a long distance until you learn your way around, but it will be worth the trip...not for bargins, but fun shopping. You will pass Grapevine Mills on the way to Southlake.

I have some other great D/FW tips and things to see with the kids, but I will post those later. Good Luck! I know how you feel b/c we moved from Texas to California and it was the same thing... except a lot more expensive.
